It is easy to see that with the immense variety of television brackets that they provide amazing versatility and functionality to the already efficient flat screen televisions.

Too Many TV’s? Never!

by admin

Sixty years ago, just a few homes in every street had a TV set. Today, the average home has three or four TVs and perhaps several other devices capable of displaying video. How does the use of these compare to how TVs used to be?

When TVs first became popular, they were large and bulky items, too heavy to easily move. They were stand alone and contained their own speakers, and channels were chosen through a tuning dial. There were no digital controls in sight. Modern TVs are now commonly digital, and may run off internal or external speakers, and can display far more than just TV. They are now complete home entertainment systems. The beauty of the modern home entertainment system is that it can all be linked together. Gone are the d

ays when a person had a music centre, alongside a TV, VCR and perhaps a computer.

Instead we have computers that play music, video streamed from the internet and DVDs too. We have terrestrial, cable and satellite TV, and some people have stand-alone music players too, such as iPods and other MP3 players. These can be run on their own, but this can get a little messy.

With many of them sharing the same needs-for example a set of speakers to output sound, it makes sense to try and link them together and run them through the same speakers.

When tying together a TV and computer, especially when connecting other devices as well, an amplifier can be useful. This not only can improve the quality of the output when compared with playing the media source directly, but also gives greater control to the whole set up. Instead of having to control the computer output sound, TV and DVD separately, all three can be controlled through the same device, with a single remote control.

Other features may be made available through an amplifier too, such as automatic muting when switching from one input to another so that it doesn’t suddenly blast out. Some may come with inbuilt radio tuners, and be capable of taking other inputs too, such as from one of the many modern games consoles.

With the increasing number of devices that are now sold and run together, the need for storage for them grew. Modern media units are able to hold a TV, DVD player, amplifier and often a large number of CDs or DVDs. Yet with flat screen TVs being so trim, there is no need to have a dedicated unit, with them instead being able to be fixed to a wall, up out of the way.

A wide range of brackets are also available that allow flat screen TVs to be mounted to a wall. Other brackets will mount speakers, computer monitors and other home entertainment equipment as needed. This negates the need for having bulky media centres to display your equipment, and helps too to keep the wires tidy and out of the way. These brackets are easy to mount and may allow you to tilt and move your TV with ease.

Wall mounted brackets are the perfect complement to the modern home media system.

Should You Buy HD

by admin

HD (High Definition) televisions are becoming increasingly popular with consumers, now that prices are dropping. But just because you have the option of buying a HD set, does that mean that you should do just for the sake of it?

HD TV uses a variety of factors to improve the visible picture, including having a larger number of pixels on the screen, a greater contrast ratio, and more vivid colors and greater depth. The combination of factors results in a sharper, more clear and vivid picture that you would otherwise have. The picture is noticeably better, in the way that the step from VHS to DVD was an impressive improvement. For film fanatics in particular, a HD set is a wonderful piece of audio video equipment.

The problem is that for this improvement to occur, you don’ t only need

to have a HD TV-the source or signal that is being displayed on the screen needs to be HD as well. This means using a Blu-Ray player and discs, or watching a TV service that broadcasts HD. If you use a normal DVD in the blu-ray player, or watch normal quality broadcast TV, then what is shown will be at that normal quality. You won’t get a HD viewing experience. You will simply have a nice TV that is as good quality as the source that you expect it to display.

But a big reason in favor of buying a HD set even if you don’t have HD equipment,  is future proofing. You may not have the ability to show HD TV at the moment because you don’t have the other equipment needed-or because you don’t get a HD signal through your cable or satellite company yet. But that may not always be the case, and when you finally do have that ability to view TV in HD what will you do if you don’t have a HD set?

In short, you will have to go out and buy yet another new set, this time for the purpose of upgrading to HD. It may mean that you have bought two flat screen TVs in a short time-and it may be unnecessary. A HD TV that is displaying a non-HD source will work just fine by scaling the picture, so that the lower number of pixels can be shown on it.

A HD TV will not make a non-HD TV source look better, nor is it meant to.

But once HD becomes available to you, your TV will be ready and waiting for it. Increasing numbers of TV stations are broadcasting in HD, and the numbers will continue to increase in the future.

Not all TVs that are advertised as HD are actually HD displays. Instead they may be HD compatible, and require an additional piece of equipment (increasing your costs) whilst not producing the same high quality picture as a proper HD set does.

A little careful consideration of your current and potential future needs will help you make the decision, and with the speed at which technology is changing, buying a HD set is a good investment.

TV Brackets in Black, Silver or White

by admin

Throughout our years selling TV wall brackets, we have often being asked whether or not we stock our items in more then one colour. Surprising as it may seem, we once had a customer who wanted an Orange tv bracket to fit in with his kids “Fun Room”! Being as committed to customer services as we are, we actually managed to create this product just for him!

2 years ago, our entire range was available in Silver, infact we had next to nothing available in black. It was only when we placed a test order with a new supplier that we received our first batch of brackets in black. Perhaps it was customer demand, or perhaps just a change in the industry, but as soon as we changed our product images to the black version, we saw an instant increase in sales. Around the same time, Samsung, Panasonic and LG started mass-producing their range in black as a pose to silver. This only increased the requirement for black tv brackets as aesthetically the silver lines did not look right.

Now in 2010, we sell nothing in silver. Our entire range comes in black, and i personally can not remember the last time we were asked for anything different. If you do require a bracket in Silver, or White, we are able to source them for you, so please do not hesitate to get in touch.

What to do with those messy looking wires?

by admin

A TV always looks great mounted on the wall, they use no space at all and they give your room a cool contemporary appearance.

One of the main issues with wall mounting a TV is the wires and cables extruding from the TV.

Leave them to run down the wall, and your entire installation looks “shoddy”.

If you don’t want to pay for a professional installer to come in and hide the cables behind your wall, the next best thing is Cable Trunking.

One of the highly recommended cable trunking products available on the market is the Iconceal Cable Management Kit – You can read more Here.

We have a range of useful Cable Trunking products which you can see here: Cable Trunking

Which TV Bracket?

by admin

Not sure which TV bracket you need?

There are 2 main questions that could influence your purchasing decision, the first of which we are going to cover here.

Question: What functionality do i require from my TV bracket?

Knowing exactly what you want your TV bracket to do makes a big difference in choosing a TV wall bracket. Do you want it to sit flush? tilt? Swivel left and right

? Or maybe you want it to come away from the wall and move to your desired position?

Either way, there are plenty of options available online, a few of which are below.

Flush TV Brackets
These brackets sit perfectly flush to the wall, they do not move at all. Depending on the cables at the back of your TV, you should have a rough idea of how much clearance you need between the Wall and the TV itself. If not, grab a tape measure and make sure you have an idea before ordering a bracket. There are various different depths of bracket so finding one that’s right for you is not really a problem.

Tilting TV Brackets
These types of bracket give you the flexibility to tilt your TV up and down for a better viewing angle. This is ideal of you want to put your TV above the fireplace for example. Most tilting brackets available offer a 15 degree tilt up and down, 30 degrees in total.

Cantilever TV Brackets
These types of brackets are ideally suited to corner TV installations and installations carried out within a recess on the wall.

A Cantilever arm bracket allows you to pull the TV away from the wall (up to 24″) whilst still providing the functionality of a 15 degree tilt, and a 180 degree swivel left and right. Basically, no matter where you are in the room, with a cantilever bracket you will be able to pull the TV round to your desired viewing angle with no hassle at all.

There is also a range of electronic cantilever mounts available online.  These provide the same functionality as a normal cantilever bracket, however you will also receive a remote control to do it for you!

What is VESA?

by admin

So, the question is, What is VESA

?

During your quest to mount your LCD or Plasma TV on the wall, i’m sure you will have heard the term VESA. So, what is VESA?

VESA is the term we use in order to describe  the way an LCD or Plasma TV is fitted to a TV Wall Bracket. VESA defines a standard set of mounting holes found in the back of your TV which allows many standard TV brackets to be easily attached and used to secure your TV on the wall.

Practically ALL of the larger suppliers of Plasma and LCD TV’s such as Philips, Sony, Samsung and LG make their TV’s to be VESA compatible.

By doing this, it gives you as the customer a much wider selection of TV brackets and TV wall mounts available from many suppliers that are compatible with your TV.

“But how do i tell if my TV is VESA compatible?”
Thankfully, it’s not as complicated as it may sound.

  • Turn your TV around, or go behind it so that you can see the back of the TV.
  • Starting in the center, look at the back of the TV for 4 mounting holes. Sometimes they are pre-filled with a plug from the manufacturer that can easily be removed.
  • There are quite a few possible hole locations which are VESA compatible:
    • 50 x 50
    • 75 x 75
    • 100 x 100
    • 200 x 100
    • 200 x 200
    • 400 x 200
    • 400 x 400
    • 600 x 400
    • 800 x 400

If you are still unsure, it might be worth having a word with a professional TV bracket supplier such as www.bracketsuk.com. They will be able to inform you correctly before you commit to purchasing and TV Brackets that won’t meet your requirements.
